Fitness Myths Explained: Part 3.
Machines are better than free weights
The myth that machines are better than free weights for fitness is based on the belief that machines provide better support and stability, making them safer and more effective for exercise. However, this is not always the case. While machines can be a useful tool for specific exercises, free weights, such as dumbbells and barbells, offer several benefits that machines do not. Free weights allow for a greater range of motion, recruit more stabilizing muscles, and provide a more functional workout. They also provide a wider variety of exercises, making it easier to target specific muscles. Ultimately, the choice between machines and free weights depends on your fitness goals, personal preferences, and workout routine. Both can be effective, and incorporating a mix of both may provide the best results.
You need to do cardio to lose weight
The myth that you need to do cardio to lose weight is based on the belief that cardio is the most effective way to burn calories and lose weight. However, this is not always the case. While cardio can be a great way to burn calories and improve cardiovascular health, it is not the only factor in weight loss. To effectively lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit by burning more calories than you consume, which can be achieved through a combination of diet and exercise. Strength training and other forms of exercise, such as HIIT or circuit training, can also be effective for burning calories and building muscle, which in turn boosts metabolism and helps with weight loss. The key to successful weight loss is finding a combination of activities that work best for you and your body.
